Memorial Tablets
Memorial tablets, memorial plaques, or commemorative
plaques (we all have different names for them rather like headstones,
gravestones, tombstones etc) tend to be either wall mounted, or in the
case of cremation tablets, set into the ground.
As with any memorial stone, the client may demand a unique design with
unusual stone lettering for a commemorative plaque. This certainly makes
people stop and read, but is not for everyone. A simple classical memorial
plaque is most likely to stand the test of time.
Cremation tablets are becoming increasingly popular as churchyard and
cemetery space is limited. The standard size for a slate cremation tablet
in English churchyards is 12" x 18" by 1" thick and 2" thick for a Portland
stone tablet.
Further notes on the designing of memorial tablets can be found on the
headstones page.
